CPUC is seeking an experience and highly skilled Senior Diesel Mechanic to support the reliable operation and maintenance of its diesel-powered fleet.  This role offers a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to critical power and infrastructure services in Chuuk while playing a key role in mentoring and transferring technical skills to the local workforce.

Required Qualifications for Position
Minimum 5-10 years of proven hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic
Demonstrated expertise in marine diesel engines, stationary diesel generators, and heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery (e.g. cranes, backhoe)
Strong background in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and major overhauls
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physically fit and capable of performing manual and field-based work
Valid driver's license
Experience working in remote, island, or developing country environments
Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication skills with a genuine commitment to training local personnel
Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to diverse working conditions
Relevant technical certification or trade qualifications
Responsibilities of the Position
Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on stationary diesel generators, marine diesel engine, and heavy equipment
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, fuel, lubrication, cooling, and exhaust system issues
Conduct engine overhauls, rebuilds, and major repairs
Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare technical reports
Respond promptly to emergency equipmentt breakdowns
Carry out rapid fault isolation and repairs to minimize downtime
Support standby and on-call maintenance duties as assigned
Provide hands-on training and mentoring to local mechanics and technicians
Develop and implement best practices in preventive maintenance
Assist in improving maintenance procedures, checklist, and schedules
Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with oprational standards
Provide expert advice on spare parts, tools, and consumables
Support planning for major maintenance activities and scheduled shutdowns
Recommend improvement to enhance equipment performance and reliability
