Current Tariffs and Change Process
Fuel Price Index Adjustment
As per the price notification from FSM Petroleum Corporation (below) the price of fuel to CPUC
will be $3.6746 for Weno and $4.2246 per gallon for Tonoas, an increase of $0.0299 per gallon
from the previous price of $3.6447 and $4.1947 per gallon respectively.
CPUC is therefore changing its power tariff to reflect the change in the fuel price as follows:
Consumer | From | To (kwh) | From | To | An |
Residential | $0.4902 | $0.4926 | $0.5342 | $0.5366 | $0.0024 |
Commercial | $0.5202 | $0.5226 | $0.5642 | $0.5666 | $0.0024 |
Government | $0.5402 | $0.5426 | $0.5842 | $0.5866 | $0.0024 |
(Prices effective 14th August 2024 and shown in USD)
The new rate will apply until such time as the price of fuel changes.
CPUC would like to thank all customers for their continued support as we strive to provide a better, more convenient and reliable service.

Electricity Tariffs
CPUC’s electricity tariff is a totally variable tariff by customer type. There are no fixed charges, minimum charge, demand or capacity charges. The tariff is specified based on a cost of diesel to CPUC of $3.80 per gallon. The tariff is adjusted (approximately monthly) to reflect the actual cost of diesel. Table 1 sets out CPUC’s base electricity tariff (assuming a cost of diesel of $3.80 per gallon) and the current tariff.
Table 1 – Electricity Supply Tariff Base
Base Tariff | Current Tariff (2021/09/15) | |
Residential | $0.5026/kWh | $0.4478/kWh |
Commercial | $0.5326/kWh | $0.4778/kWh |
Government | $0.5526/kWh | $0.4978/kWh |
Almost all CPUC’s 2100 customers use a prepay system with a simple accumulation meter. The system can charge fixed charges and rate block tariffs, but doesn’t have any smart or multi-register functionality (so, for example, day/night, peak/shoulder/off-peak or demand tariffs could not be implemented). There are also 61 larger commercial and government customers with post-pay accounts.

Sewerage Tariffs
For sewerage system customers that are also connected to CPUC’s water supply system, CPUC’s sewerage tariff is charged as a portion of the water bill. Residential customers are charged 15% of their water bill for sewerage. Commercial and government customers are charged 50% of their water bill for sewerage. CPUC proposes to increase sewerage tariffs over the next three years asset out in Table 4.
Table 4 – Proposed Sewerage Tariff Price Path (Portion of Water Bill)
