CPUC is seeking a motivated and dependable Power Metering Technician to join its team. This position plays an important role in ensuring accurate meter readings, supporting customer billings, maintaining power meters, and responding to meter-related service issues, including cash power meter and CIU concerns. The successful candidate will help support reliable electricity services for the community while delivering customer service and upholding CPUC's values of customer focus, professionalism, honest, respect, and unity.

Required Qualifications for Position
High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical or power systems is preferred.
Experience in power meter reading, installation, maintenance, or billing is an advantage.
Knowledge of power meter systems and CIUs.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to safety practices and adherence to organizational policies.
Responsibilities of the Position
Operate and support customer billing systems for power services.
Maintain power meters and assist with improvement to the metering system.
Conduct regular meter inspections and recommend action on improper or illegal connections.
Read meters regularly and ensure readings are accurate and timely.
Respond promptly to customer inquiries and verify customer accounts.
Follow up on customer interaction to ensure resolution of issues.
Respond to meter-related emergencies, including malfunctions, CIU issues, and urgent meter problems.
Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
