THIS   IS   TO   ANNOUNCE   THAT   CPUC   IS   SEEKING   TO   HIRE   A Plant Operator. Under the Power Plant Department.  A Plant Operator is an employee who supervises the operation of an industrial plan.

SALARY: A competitive package will be offered based on education and experience.

Required Qualifications for Position
High school graduate with a diploma
Basic computer skills would be a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Attention to details
Physically fit and able to train to operate the plant
Responsibilities of the Position
Start diesel engines and synchronizes generators with other power sources.
Inspect equipment to detect malfunctions and report to supervisor of maintenance.
Adjust controls to generate specified electrical power, or to regulate the flow of power between generating stations and substations.
Control and maintain auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, feed-water.
Control generator output to match the phase, frequency, and voltage of electricity supplied to panels.
Make adjustments or minor repair, such as tightening leaking gland and pipe joints; report any needs for major repairs.
Report diesel fuel sounding, receive diesel fuel deliveries, and record to the operator logbook.
Monitor and inspect power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.
Open and close valves and switches in sequence upon signals from other workers, in order to start or shut down auxiliary units.
Operate or control power generating equipment, including generators, control boards, or semi-automatic equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
